My Slimming World

There are lots of ways to lose weight and by no means am I saying this is the only way to go. For right now this is the plan I am opting to follow. If you follow my blog for any time at all you will notice that I will constantly refer to Slimming World and its lingo so I thought it would be good to explain myself for those who are not familiar

Slimming World Terms

Free foods Free Foods are naturally low in energy density (calories) and high in satiety (appetite satisfaction) – which means they help to fill you up, and slim you down… without you having to worry about keeping track! You can eat as much as you like of the wonderfully satisfying Free Foods– any time, anywhere! Free foods include meat (with the fat removed) yes, even bacon is free on Slimming World, vegetables, fresh fruit, rice, pasta, potato, beans, peas, pulses, eggs. The list is seemingly endless.

Speed foods These are very low in energy density (calories) so they have extra slimming power! For the best results, enjoy at least one third of a plate of Speed foods at each mealtime (wherever you can) and reach for them first between meals. The more Speed foods you choose, the more weight you’ll lose!

Healthy extra A (HexA) – Choose one HexA per day .These are dairy foods that are high in calcium. Maintaining a high intake of calcium when you’re slimming is important for good health and may aid your weight loss too. ‘A’ choices include: Milk and Cheese. Anything over the measured amount should be syned.

Healthy extra B (HexB) – Choose one HexB per day. Choices are foods that are high in fibre or contain important nutrients for a healthy balanced diet. HexB include Cereals, oats and cooked/dry fruit. Anything over the measured amount should be syned.

Syns – All foods that aren’t Free (or included in your healthy extra) have a Syn value. Counting the Syns you use each day helps you balance your diet for optimum weight loss, and maximum enjoyment. Choose 5 to 15 Syns a day — how many is up to you! Syns include Alcohol, biscuits, cakes, chocolate, pastries, crisps, sugar, fat… ya know … all the good stuff
